Ford Garners Wards Top Interior Award

Wards held it’s Auto Interiors show at Cobo Center in Detroit Wednesday where it awarded the best instrument cluster to Ford for the Mustang.

The 2006 Ford Mustang features an industry-first color-configurable instrument cluster so customers can light their gauges in any of 125 unique colors.

The 2006 Ford Reflex concept car took top honors Wednesday at the Ward’s Auto Interiors Show.

The Reflex was named Specialty Concept Vehicle of the Year and Most Significant Concept Vehicle of the Year by the South East Automotive Media Organization (SEAMO). The Reflex was unveiled at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit

“This is the first concept vehicle in the five-year history of the program to be unanimously chosen as a top-three pick by every member of the jury,” said Tom Kelley, executive director, SEAMO.

“It’s just plain good-looking, and I think that’s what got people’s attention,” said Patrick Schiavone, Design director, Trucks, who accepted the award.

The SEAMO awards recognize design, engineering and market responsiveness and are given to the concept vehicles most likely to shape the future of the automobile industry.

Does this mean we will be seeing the Reflex on the road at some point in the future?

“I certainly hope so,” said Schiavone. “I really do believe that small is big, and we want to work on something that’s very exciting in the B car segment in North America and I’d love to see something like this go into production.”

Also receiving honors were the Aston Martin Rapide and the Volvo C30. Both vehicles shared the Production Preview Vehicle of the Year Award.

The Chevrolet Camaro was voted Concept Car of the Year, and the Dodge Rampage was recognized as Concept Truck of the Year.
